I visited “The Graffiti Wall” yesterday afternoon and discovered that someone has dumped a couple hundred used tires about 75-100 feet south of WP1 and about 100 feet east of the Oak Leaf Trail that runs through the parkway. The flora directly under the tires is not yet dead but it is only a matter of time.
Does anyone know who I should inform about this issue?
Thanks,
Matt
07/17/2007 at 5:39 pm #1877132I would recommend that you contact Milwaukee County Parks at (414) 257-PARK. They will take it from there. You DID shoot some coordinates of the dumpsite, didn’t you? Anyway, if not, just describe where is it in “muggle terms”, that is 200 feet south of the railroad, and 100 feet east of the trail. This appears to be private property, but the line is very close, so I assume MCP would at least be interested.

Of course I shot coords!! Gosh, what kind of fool do you take me for? Don’t answer that.
Thanks for the info. I’ll give them a call tomorrow.

07/20/2007 at 12:28 pm #1877135Hope you get someone to take care of it. We had a tire roll into the highway in front of our house and when we called to try and get help with getting rid of it we were accused of trying to get rid of our own tire through them… it actually became “our problem” and we ended up having to pay to get rid of it.

TEOuch! I guess the “no good deed goes unpunished rule” applied in your case.
I attempted to call the Parks Department and I left a message. Nobody called me back and we went on vacation. I returned to find an e-mail from one of our volunteer reviewers asking for additional info and coords because the Parks Department had contacted the reviewer about my posted log. I relayed the info and made myself available to assist in any way. I’ve not hear anything and I don’t know the status of the tire dump. I hope they get cleaned up.
