I had the very unpleasant experience this weekend of finding a cache that I thought was full of rain water, when instead it was full of urine. I was grateful for the easy find, until I realized that it was way, way too easy, and the local whiz kids had found it and relieved their full bladders into the cache.

See GC14H5Z for details, and be careful out there.

(Other than that one, I had a fantastic time visiting the Kenosha/Racine/Mliwaukee areas this weekend.)

Urine from a healthy human is a sterile liquid.

It contains urea. A major byproduct of the decomposition of urea is nitrogen, so urine is great for plant life. The surrounding foliage would benefit if you water it with the contents of the cache.

You may, however, wish to save the urine. It is handy in the production of gunpowder and preparing textiles for the dye process. Even if you have no need for home-made gunpowder and aren’t into textiles, you could do as the Romans did and use it to make toothpaste and mouthwash.

TRUST ME i didn’t do it….lol IF you want to hear the story sometime ask me in person….

Wow, what the heck is the world coming to. People have to open a container, releive themselves, and then re-seal it… Jeez…

Hey I just watched Survivorman make a solar still to distill his own urine. Now I know where to get some to try his technique.

Both are true, which is why I usually try fertilize the foilage near caches, in order to maximize their camo.

And on the first point, FRESH urine is sterile, so peeing on your hands is OK. However, once it sets around, urine starts to grow all kinds of bacteria, which is why it is a good idea to flush your toliet from time to time.
