I just picked up the topo maps for my 60csx. How do I toggle between city nav. to the topo?

Don’t quote me on this as I may be wrong but go to map page, and click menu. Look for map setup and use the rocker key to select a map and press enter to show it on the display.

From the map screen, hit menu, & select setup map. Now highlight Map setup-Information (it’s the i-Icon,the 5th from left). you can show and hide individual segments here but if you press menu again with the i-icon highlighted you can show/hide entire mapsets.

It kinda sucks garmin doesn’t have an easier way to switch between maps, you have to press way to many buttons. 😉

I see where you are sending me and FINALLY found the tile set I wanted to switch too, but I cant get it to switch. What am I missing here?

A quick internet showed me this trick. It allows you to switch from city nav. right to the topo without scrolling through endless tiles of topo maps. Garmin will go with the city nav. by default. but hiding that map all together will bring up the all the topo. A quick switch while on the fly. Here are the directions I found.

From the map screen, press Menu, then Setup Map, and scroll over to Map Setup – Information. You’ll see your list of loaded maps with a check mark next to each one. But rather than de-selecting them one by one, press Menu again and you’ll see two choices – Hide City Select (or Navigator) and Hide US Topo, as shown in the image.

😯 Gee, with the Magellan, the topo and streets appear at the same time. No need to switch back and forth. 8)

This is Exactly what I was trying to say in my post, guess I must not have worded it right. I still think garmin could make switching maps much easier, like why not have a show/hide mapset menu option when pressing menu from the map screen? seems this would be much easier for everyone.

I see no reason garmin still has the show/hide the individual map segments menu, I can see when the units only had 25-60mb of storage this being fine, but with the current 1-2gb cards it would take forever to hide each little segment. Maybe someday with a firmware update they will make switching maps easier, but that will probably never happen.
