Has anyone been doing any caching at Wildcat Mountain State Park since all the rain? The family is coming out for the picnic and I am a bit curious about all of those vampires. Here in Brewtown, I can’t make it from my house to the garage without being attacked. It’s only about fifteen feet. There was a lot more rain out there than we got here. I’m guessing at least one case of Off. Maybe more?

I was up that way this last weekend, and I would say they aren’t nearly as ferocious as they are around here (Deerfield/Madison). I thought they would be much worse. Maybe they drowned?

None up north here…. kind of role reversal but we still have not had much rain yet.

We have very few also. In my experience any heavy rains after ~8/15 tend to not cause a large hatch of mosquito eggs as frost is too imminent this far north. (Our usual first frost is during the second week of September).

We were in Three Lakes for a week in August and they were virtually nonexistent. Down here though, I can’t wait for a good freeze. I’m hoping that all that rain ran off of Wildcat. I took my son to drop a TB on Sunday, and were nearly carried away. And we were on a gravel path in the wind. It looks like at least 2 cans of Off. Thanks for the info. Hope to see you all on Saturday.

I thought we would be late because it had been so warm. However, this morning much of Burnett county (except around the lakes and other warm pockets) awoke to find our first frost – right on schedule!

The few remaining mosquitoes will be gone very soon. Now our family can start enjoying our hot tub again! 😀

We never had a problem with them up this way. After the forecast for Friday nite/Sat a.m. we wont have to worry at all. Lows in the 20’s they’re calling for.
