Is there some way a cache owner can tell who else is watching their cache? I’m just curious.
10/15/2007 at 4:52 pm #1880283Nope, no way to determine that. This is a specific design decision by Groundspeak. If you don’t like it, well, email your complaint to Groundspeak!
10/15/2007 at 5:05 pm #1880284Nope, no problem. Makes sense with respect to GS’s privacy policies; I was just trying to figure out why anyone else might watch some of them.
10/15/2007 at 6:35 pm #1880285Here’s what you can do….
Post a note on your cache page, asking for the people who are watching to respond. You can then delete the log from the page, but the e-mail notification will have already gone out.
If the person wants to be identified, they will e-mail you back. If they don’t want to be identified, then you won’t hear anything back.
10/15/2007 at 6:37 pm #1880286could be serveral reasons, like they like the adventure they had on the cache and want to see what other people had to say when they did it, or it could be that they are planning on doing the cache sometime in the future and see if anyone put any hints or to read the adventures and can plan accordly.. thats what why i put caches on my watch list
10/15/2007 at 11:16 pm #1880287Welllll it’s not me! 😆 I watch some listings where I have dropped off my signature items or new pathtags to see if anybody mentions it. (So if you pick one of mine up, make my day and mention it – ha!) Unfortunately, people usually don’t put it in their logs if they pick stuff up or not anymore.
10/15/2007 at 11:36 pm #1880288I’m watching some 100+ caches, but I do not think any of them are yours. What should I say – nothing there!??? 😯 🙄 😉

Some of the reasons I watch a cache are similar to what Coastie stated. I like to see who else finds a “special” cache and like to read what others have to say or I might watch a cache that I have DNF’ed to see if it gets found afterwards or if the cache is gone.
I wonder if we should put the word out to everyone to put all of your caches on their watch list! 😆
Of course that might just drive you nuts! 😆 😆10/16/2007 at 11:50 am #1880290I wonder if we should put the word out to everyone to put all of your caches on their watch list!
Won’t work—I’m already there!
I do watch those I’ve DNFed, but I guess I hadn’t thought about watching others for reasons of interest. Those I just find in my list of finds and read every so often to see what others think.
10/16/2007 at 12:22 pm #1880291I watch some caches I DNF until there is a finder and then I stop watching. I also watch very hard puzzles that I’m interested in trying to solve. Sometimes I watch caches as a means of reminding myself to get out that way and find a particular cache or cache in a particular area.Oh, one more reson I watch a cache: if it is close to one of my own caches I like to see when people are nearby to my caches and whether they do mine as well or skip it.
