Just finished plotting out our caching adventures for tomorrow. Anyone wanna place bets on whether we’re able to snag all 34 caches we have lined up? We start south of Wabasha and try to get 5 in the forest near there. Cross back over and grab 5-6 as far along the river road as where zuma’s EC is located. Grab another just off 10, then go for the EC and zuma’s new series out in the middle of nowhere. From there, hoping to get 16 of the ones on the south end of the bike trail, 20 miles of biking. I know one of those in particular has been a stinker, so we’re keeping our fingers crossed. We were shooting to get to Meridean, and I know that last one might be gone, but we figured we’d try. I also know one before that is more or less for sure gone, so that saves us time, LOL.
Then possibly 3 more, spread out on highway 10 to Osseo.I think the oil companies should honor us all with free tanks of gas after runs like this. Is this nuts?
10/20/2007 at 12:29 am #1880453I’m driving all the way to Waukesha tomorrow morning at 4am. I’m hoping to get another 4 or 5 Earthcaches down that way. As for your plans. That Minnesota City to Wabasha corridor is 11th letter. 2nd letter. territory. Good Luck! You’ll see evidence of why I don’t cache in Minnesota anymore than I do. As for the big petrol companies owing you guys? I hear tell that Royal Dutch’s new rig they are building off the Northeast coast of Newfoundland is called ‘The Caching Monkey’. I guess my assorted caching adventures are really helping boost their bottom line! 😀

Three of those five are his, but we’ve managed to find all of his we’ve sought. Just widen the search area–a lot!
We’re going to pretend it’s a work day, get up the same time, not bother with prettying up and off we go. That should have us searching those KB caches before 7am, an additional challenge, LOL.
Safe driving to you. Course, you get mostly the I, so that’s good.
10/20/2007 at 2:52 am #1880455I’m sure you guys saw the logs from the first finder’s in Nugget Park. Zuma’s write-up said 2 hours, their write up said 4 hours. I’ve cached with Zuma, so that was two hours in his world and stride length. The park is 20 miles from my house and there is standing water everywhere. Park on asphalt and add walk time. I was going to head over there on Thursday, but the clay and water was making walking on grassy surfaces pretty treacherous. Didn’t seem like a prudent thing to do alone. Good luck on the numbers. Depending on which KB’s you are doing, his coord’s are quite good now – unless it’s that canoe landing one at Kruger.
10/21/2007 at 4:58 am #1880456We managed 28 finds. Whiffed on three, boo! We’ll be back for at least two of those on the Chip Trail. We’d hoped to get as far as Meridean on the trail, but we rode back at least 7 of the miles in darkness as it was, how nuts is that?
DOC, the areas where all the caches are located are just fine as far as water. It was a wonderful day to get out there. It did take us about 2 hours; the others maybe chose to hike more of the trails than just those needed to make the finds. We took one little side trip, too, straight up! near Nugget’s Nook. A fun (mostly) day.
