Well I just got back from the doctor and I won’t be doing any caching for at least a week. Screwed up my lower back at work and have to lay low for a while. Hmmm what to do while I’m layed up and going through caching withdrawl??
Any suggestions???

You could always do virtual caches from Germany!

no jack daniels.. espically if you are taking muscle relaxants.. i should know..
I understand your pain about laying low.. i hurt my back last winter was no fun here either… though i still went caching paid dearly for that the week after though.. thought i was good after a week of lieing around and a week off work, decide to go caching with Team Honeybunny and K0RPL in the snow.. god that was a bad decision.. got laid up another week..
so word of advice if you feel good by the week ends don’t go caching wait another week… cuz you don’t want to get laid up again… ease back into it slowly
10/30/2007 at 2:49 am #1880693i did the same thing earlier this year. in between muscle relaxers, i’d spend time on the computer doing the research for a bunch of puzzle caches. just take it easy when you do get back to caching. we all know how much bending and ducking we do on those wooded trails.
10/30/2007 at 3:59 am #1880694First off, I’m sorry to hear about your back injury. One week is not a terribly long time to be out of caching. The caches will still be there when you are well. I missed about 2 1/2 months of caching this summer due to a broken leg. Listen to your doctor, and let your body heal well. Caching is so much more enjoyable when you get back to it. I really got into the forums during my rehab. I also did a bit of “vicarious” caching with my brother via cell phone. Get well soon!
10/30/2007 at 2:27 pm #1880695Sorry to hear about your back. At least ya can get workmans comp for it.
At least ya can sit on the couch and gobble Vicodin and watch Vicodin’s most famous user to throw dramatic game winning passes…..Woo hoo!!!! That was an awesome pass. I bet it was better if ya had a bit of Vicodin flowing thru your veins.

tomah memorial hospital is a good hospital to stay away from.11/10/2007 at 10:21 am #1880697Good news!! Physical therapy, good meds, and some rest have gotten me back to at least 90%. Did some caching on Friday (did 17), plan on caching Appleton while we attend the WWFM Event there if all goes as planned the WWFM event should be the big 500!! Keeping my fingers crossed we can get 16 between here and there. Should be able to I think………..maybe…………we’ll see…….. π
11/10/2007 at 3:29 pm #1880698Great news! The statistics show that most episodes of back pain are self-limited (meaning they will go away within a few weeks using simple analgesics, exercises, manipulation, etc.
Unfortunately, the biggest predictor of which people will not get better is whether there is litigation pending. This tends to make even the most sympathetic doctors somewhat calloused when dealing with back pain victims. The doctors in Tomah were doing their job. Only the slackard physicians wouldn’t be asking questions about possible drug abuse/overuse of narcotics.
