      Just received my weekly cache listing email and I see they are giving out unite for diabetes geocoins: http://unite.geocaching.com/

      Not sure if this a brand new announcement or not, but it’s the first I’ve heard about it. Regardless, if you want one, better hurry – they are only sending to the first 1500 to sign up.

          To verify your account??? They asked for it also when they did the TB’s.
          I think they also asked for it if you signed up for the Jeep TB’s but I’m not sure.

            Correct. People asked the same question when they were asked to enter their password during the Jeep TB giveaway. Jeremy came on and reassured everyone that yes, entering in your password there was safe, and it was used to verify that only people with GC.com accounts were requesting Jeeps.

              Granted that is true but I have yet to find anything on GC.com that says they are promoting this. (last time checked was 10pm last night)

              I’m just being a little more leery since my GC.com account is tide to my paypal for auto payments to GC.com.

              Has word been made from GC.com on supporting this particular event?

              More than likely I will miss out but hey can’t have everything.

                This is a legitimate Groundspeak promotion. It has been secret for a while, but since they put it in the cache mailer, well, I guess its not a secret anymore! I wonder what percentage will end up directly in someone’s collection, rather than being placed in caches as intended. Rest assured, at least ONE of these coins will end up in a Wisconsin cache (assuming I get one).

                      It looks like you may also get your coin if you want to got to one of these places-

                      A number of monuments are being illuminated for World Diabetes Day and you will be able to collect your Geocoin from many of these locations on 14 November. Currently the list includes:

                      The Scandinavium, Gothenburg, Sweden
                      New York World Diabetes Day Rally; Guastavino’s Restaurant, 409 E. 59th St., New York, NY 10022
                      This list will continue to be updated with additional locations and specific timings.

                        After a trip to the zoo with a bunch of 4K kindergartners checked my mailbox and low and behold mine was there !!! Hopefully when I place it it will travel further than the diabetes TB I placed did. That one got no farther than the cache I placed it in. 🙁
