Mentioned Geocaching to ____________. how would things be different?

Just wanted to find out who wouldn’t be playing the game if you had not introduced geocaching to them, or if they had not introduced you to geocaching, what would you be doing to fill the gap?

I think there will be many interesting posts to this.

    Okay, I’ll start.

If I had not mentioned geocaching to DAVE, there would be a whole lot of FTFs for everyone else 😀 . There would also be a few less clever caches in the valley, so I guess I can live with my decision.

Disclaimer : Always answering to a higher power.

If I had not mentioned geocaching to ROBIN, there wouldnt be an HBZ series, a Miles series, and I wouldnt be putting up our Christmas tree with a wonderful lady tonight.

On the other hand, if I had not mentioned geocaching to ROBIN, I would have been free to do what I wanted to tonight instead of following the “suggestions” of “she who must be obeyed.”

I was introduced to geocaching by One Paddle Short

The sport has brought me to many places I would not otherwise gone to as well as the chance to meet a lot of strange people (That’s my wife’s comment). Geocaching as also opened me up to other opportunities such as kayaking. One of my first paddle caches ( I was FTF) was quite eventful with an old aluminum boat. I decided to buy a kayak and now our whole family, especially me, likes to go kayaking even w/o a cache involved. I don’t like to look at what geocaching has caused me to miss but rather the opprtunities that have arisen because of geocaching.

If my mother-in-law would not have game me that gpsr and that geocaching FAQ sheet, I probably would not have totaled my car.

On the other hand, I would never have met some really great folks out there and had so much fun discovering my surroundings!

Since I have not created any caching “converts” I cannot share any stories related to that, “Yet”.

Geocaching was introduced to me by my father who doesn’t even cache. Well he found a couple back in the early days of the sport. I didn’t have a GPSr then but when I finally got one it was the first thing I did with it.

So by being introduced to it I have found many places and great people. I hope to continue with it as long as I have not yet found all the cool places this world has to offer.

If Grant (who doesn’t geocache) hadn’t sent me the link to geocaching.com in 2002 I would not have met some really great people I very much enjoy, even though I don’t get to see them often enough.

If I hadn’t introduced Julie (lou mag) to geocaching when we were killing time at a Destination Imagination meet, she wouldn’t have taught numerous geocaching classes to the students at Chippewa Falls Middle School or added to the cache count in Chippewa Falls or taught geocaching at adult ed in Rice Lake or had her sons introduce it to their Boy Scout troop. Also, my daughter may not have fallen into the the swamp while crossing a log on that first outing. But, if she had anyway, she wouldn’t have had Julie to calm her down and make it seem okay.
