I think this could be addicting. Just started out in Geocaching and am already considering taking a day off work to go have some fun. Hate the short days this time of year. 🙂
Just wanted to introduce myself and thank you all for the great site. I have learned a lot from your posts already.
And if you are scratching your noggin as to where South Range is, it is right next to Superior in Northwest Wisconsin.
Take care out there!
Wooo Hooo!!! Another cacher from UP NORT! on the boards!!
Welcome Sunski. I haven’t had the chance to hit many of the caches up that way yet but someday soon! I have to admit, I had to look at the ol’ Gazetteer to find South Range.
Great to see there are others up this way!
I have been researching some of the caches around these parts and have finally noticed the “Available in Winter” attribute symbol. Would you recommend only going after those caches that have such an attribute or is it possible to find any cache in the snow? I don’t mind digging or searching but do people remove caches in the winter?
Hi! And welcome!!
My guess is that most people leave their caches in place through the winter (a few will disable them if they think they might be too hard to find). The challenge of winter caching is quite rewarding. I started caching in winter myself (January 2004) and was quite surprised at the amount of success I had with the snow.
Enjoy!

Welcome to the fun Sunski. Don’t let all that snow deter you. Just because there is a snow attribute listed, doesn’t mean that it might not be buried.
Welcome to the addiction!
