Well, I just hate not knowing along the way how many votes are cast for COTM.
And I understand – but do not agree – with why they are not shown any more.
However, I have a compromise suggestion: show the total number of votes cast, for all the nominees.
01/06/2008 at 10:08 pm #1882946Or post the total after the vote is done?

I don’t think thats a good idea, as then someone would vote for the one with the least votes.. and that wouldn’t be fair

Life’s not fair……..
Why not vote for one likely to be voted in?
01/09/2008 at 2:24 am #1882953I kind of like keeping the totals secret until after all of the votes are cast. By keeping the totals secret, the winning cache will have to do so on it’s own merits.

I agree.
01/09/2008 at 2:41 am #1882955With 840 Active members of the WGA, there ought to be some way to get a little more involvement in the COTM voting. what is the average number of votes that are cast each month? 20-30?? there have to be more worthy caches out there that could be nominated.
Disclaimer : Always answering to a higher power.
01/09/2008 at 2:46 am #1882956Ya, but how many are active on the boards? I try to nominate a cache from “up here ” every month” just some of my favorites noticed. There are a whole lot of cachers up here that never even heard of the WGA. Unless you did a mass emailing every month, just the regulars visitors vote.
01/09/2008 at 4:06 am #1882957Well, you are getting my point here!
Not too many WGA members vote for COTM.
If I nominate or see a cache I think is worth while, I sometimes e-mail all the finders of that cache. I usually get one or two cachers who ask ‘how to vote’. So I’m slowly spreading the word…….

So how is posting a running total going to get those who don’t know about COTM to vote?
I think we get your point. It’s easier to rally the troops when you know how many votes you need. In my opinion, this kind of cheapens the COTM honor. In theory, you could almost insure one of your local caches wins the honor every month as long as you have enough active voters working together.
Come to think of it…..my ODS has never been nominated for COTM. If I knew how many votes I needed, I could maybe blackmail or bribe enough of the local caching crew to steal the honor away from a far more deserving cache. Now I only need to figure our how many beers it will take to get Zuma to vote for my cache.
01/09/2008 at 4:35 am #1882959Oh Zuma is pretty cheap, its only about a six pack as long as it is the right type of beer.
