I have received several emails inquiring about the event. Sadly, it is not happening this year.
In spite of my rant about it last spring and the sportsmanship issues, I had calmed down and had been planning on coordinating it again. Then we lost part of the funding (the event has run several grand each year). Then we were thinking about an adventure race series using geocaching as a part of it. Then the Bureau lost one of the communities it represented to another Bureau (a new Bureau) so the rest of the funding used was lost.
So, here we go. There is no spring geocaching event in the Chippewa Valley this year. There is still a strong desire to do it again, but it will not happen this year. Stay tuned for next year.
Any questions? Drop me an email!
01/23/2008 at 3:12 pm #1883795Sorry to hear about this — I was really hoping to make it up this year. Got my fingers crossed for the future!

01/23/2008 at 6:33 pm #1883796I’m sorry this will not take place. At least it will give me a chance to heal from last years event. In fact, I’m scheduled for an MRI on Tuesday to see if they can do anything to repair the damage that was done. However, I’m sure I will still go up there to see the bears. LOOK AT THE BEARS! LOOK AT THE BEARS! LOOK AT THE BEARS!
01/23/2008 at 6:45 pm #1883797I am still planning on having a CITO event this year. The parks department was very happy with what we accomplished last year. As the time gets closer I will be looking for some volunteers to place caches in area parks that will be released on the day of the CITO event.
We can always hope for an other CVB event next year 🙂 .
01/23/2008 at 11:03 pm #1883798I was only able to cache one weekend for the CVB event last year. I greatly enjoyed it. I’m sorry it will not be happening again this year. It gave me the excuse to make the 2.5 hr drive down there to get more caches.

Robin, make sure you let me know about this. I’d love to help out again if the day is available for me.

Having worked with Kent and the CVB folks for the first “event” I know what a hassle it is to organize this. I give Kent a lot of credit for even considering taking it on again. It must be like childbirth – the endorphins of the rush of hiding and finding made him forget the pain.
Many thanks to all the planners of last year’s CVB game. You did a lot of work for our enjoyment!

01/24/2008 at 1:54 pm #1883805Hey Kent,
Sorry to hear about the event.
Perhaps it’s time to downsize to a more modest event and try again.
We are having a small event at Hudson Hot Air Affair February 1-3. Come on up! Doc. is having a coffee meet and greet that weekend in Hudson too. See ya there??
