I’ve been thinking about this question since the candidates were announced. Some of the recent comments in the election threads (the urban spew thread specifically) made note that many things are beyond the control of the WGA Board, they are under the control of geocaching.com.

We have an interesting situation in that both of the geocache reviewers for the state of Wisconsin are in the running for the WGA Board.

Is that good, is that bad? Does that give the WGA more power than it would have otherwise? Does that give geocaching.com more influence than it would have otherwise?

Personally I like the fact that currently and in the past we have had reviewers who are also on the BOD. It makes it easier to contact the reviewer and to keep informed with the changes and subtleties in the GC rules.

I think it is great that Reviewers are on the board. With this being the case, if/when rules are changed from Groundspeak, the Reviewers can let the WGA Know what is going on.

In the past the reviewers for the state of Wisconsin were only board members. Only in the past couple years have there been reviewers who were not on the board. I don’t think it’s good or bad. It doesn’t really change the amount of “power” that the WGA has, nor does it give geocaching.com more “influence”.

My role as a reviewer is a separate thing from my activities as a WGA member — board or not. I just have a little more experience about the rules of cache placement.

What Becky said!!! Seriously, it doesn’t make any difference. About the only overlap has to do with dealing with agencies, and we should be able to communicate as needed on this particular topic.
