    Hey all,

I am wanting to visit Trekkin and Birdin’s great new Earthcache next Sunday Feb 17. Looks like the perfect cache for a long walk with friends, old and new.

    The GC # is GC19697

Who would like to join me? I am thinking of meeting at the Visitor’s Center at 10:00am. Those who live in Eau Claire or La Crosse areas can ride down there with me.

As time allows, we can hit a few other caches in the area, including lagrac’s Earthcache, just a few miles from this one.

Great!!! We can meet at the front door of the Visitor’s Center, which from Google Earth looks to be about 100 feet south of the given coords.

BTW, the more the merrier….Anyone else interested in making the trek?

    Dearest Zuma!,

I am unable to commit to a FTF trek with you on Sunday, as horse house call schedule takes precidence over caching. [$CASH$] I was saving this hike for a milestone celebration cache. DB will keep in contact as far as his work schedule/availability to accompany you and group. Sounds like a lot of fun. Anybody got a snowmobile??? Sled Dogs?? Tow Rope? …

    Sincerely,

    Your Stand-In FTF Queen

    Hi Doc,

Sorry ya cant make it. I have no doubt it will be found by Sunday, so consider the FTF chance to be nil. But it does look like a good adventure.

In addition to ridermic and myself, we have 3 from MN joining us, lagrac, lisz, and accordiangal. Should be a great time, and this is still open to more joiners. Just let me know, so I know who to expect.

Oh my gosh, I hope the cache lives up to the hype! We certainly enjoyed it.

If you want one to catch on the return trip, we just got back from doing our area’s first night cache. Four miles round trip hiking in the snow in the swampy bottoms of the Black River.

We had a blast….and that ghost coon is still out there, somewhere! ๐Ÿ˜‰

And yes, the starting coordinates are right behind the Visitor Center, along the boardwalk.

    Have fun!

Great!!! With the 8 we already had listed, and your 4, and Doc and DB, we now have a party of 14. I will probably bring my geodog as well, unless it is too cold. She is getting old and doesnt like to cache with me anymore if it is less than 10 degrees.

Again, we will meet at 10:00, at the front door of the Visitor Center. If anyone needs to contact me, the number is 715-210-0079

..SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 3 AM SUNDAY TO MIDNIGHT CST SUNDAY NIGHT…

A SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 3 AM SUNDAY TO MIDNIGHT CST SUNDAY NIGHT.

SNOW WILL DEVELOP LATE TONIGHT AND SPREAD ACROSS THE ENTIRE AREA THROUGH EARLY SUNDAY MORNING. SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS FROM 2 TO 5 INCHES WILL BE COMMON BY THE TIME THE SNOW DIMINISHES SUNDAY EVENING. NORTHWEST WINDS INCREASING FROM 25 TO 35 MPH… WITH GUSTS TO 40 MPH…WILL CAUSE WIDESPREAD BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW… WITH VERY LOW VISIBILITIES. THIS STORM HAS THE POTENTIAL TO CREATE NEAR WHITEOUT CONDITIONS IF WIDESPREAD… HEAVIER SNOWS DEVELOP…SO THERE REMAINS A POSSIBILITY THIS AREA COULD BE UPGRADED TO A WINTER STORM WARNING AS THE STORM DEVELOPS. PERSONS ARE URGED TO REFRAIN FROM TRAVELING ON SUNDAY IF AT ALL POSSIBLE.

A SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW ADVISORY MEANS THAT VISIBILITIES WILL BE LIMITED DUE TO A COMBINATION OF FALLING AND BLOWING SNOW. USE CAUTION WHEN TRAVELING…ESPECIALLY IN OPEN AREAS.

Given the weather prediction for whiteout conditions, and blowing snow it appears prudent to call this off. I have already heard from accordiangirl, lisz, DB and Doc, who saw the weather reports already and wimped out. I think Robin and I will have to wimp out too.

Still to notify: lagrac, ridermc, pcfrog. I will send you emails, but if you see it here first, let me know.

Yes, please don’t travel those winding roads in crummy weather. Those mounds have stood there for eons, they’ll be there when you can visit!

We’re getting away from this weather and heading up…toward the Chippewa Valley with friends tomorrow! LOL

Ya know, it’s simply amazing all the new caches in my neck of the woods that are available. Ohhhh, did someone say ” Winter Friendly??” Yeahhhh – if just placed…!!!” Oh, the happy dance!

Accordiongal and I went caching in Redwing today, and met up with other frustrated (DNF’S) cachers at the lack of winter friendly caches.

Hat’s off to Trekkin’and Birdin’ and lagrac for heading out with shovel in hand for the caching they have done. We poked and prodded, and dug and said we will come back in the spring. that was the family friendly version!
