This is a modified post from the DNR Forum. I decided to make it a sticky, so that the form and info would be readily available to old and new Earthcachers alike.
NOTE: Primarily because of the risk of the potential damage from trampling of natural communities and spreading of invasive species (Garlic Mustard, Purple Loostrife, etc…), geocaching of any type will still not be permitted in many of the SNA’s. Only in the more often visited or less sensitive areas will permission be granted.
Procedure for submitting an Earthcache in an SNA:
1. Record the coordinates of the location to be used in the SNA. Also record the name of the SNA, a description of the area, the type of cache, State that it is an Earthcache (virtual – no container), the proposed question(s) to answer.
2. Submit this information to the DNR Endangered Resources staff for review:

3. Upon approval from the DNR (Thomas Meyer), submit the Geocache Notification Form to him (contact information above) and he will follow up with the appropriate DNR land manager for the cache placement. Thomas will then forward the completed Geocache Notification Form to the appropriate land manager.
4. Submit the Earthcache to http://www.earthcache.org.
5. Once it is approved, your Earthcache will be listed on GC.com with the owner being “GeoAware”. You will then need to “Adopt your Earthcache” back, so your name is listed as owner.
If you have any DNR/SNA related questions regarding
Earthcache creation, post your question in this forum. If you have more general Earthcache creation questions, please feel free to contact one of the Earthcache Masters posting in these forums or found on GC.com
