My gosh, you guys are caching animals! Seth and Marie have now added the Missouri DeLorme final to their previous three Delorme finishes!!!! 😯
Is that baby going to slow you guys down at all? Congratulations! Great way to escape the deep snow around here, too. 😉
03/13/2008 at 12:34 pm #1886239Congratulations!
03/13/2008 at 12:50 pm #1886240Congrats, What a challenge but to do it all while expecting is astonishing. How many potty breaks did Marie need?
03/13/2008 at 1:20 pm #1886241Hey, big congrats to Marie and Seth on completing yet another DeLorme Challenge. Way to go, guys.

03/13/2008 at 2:26 pm #1886243That is truly amazing! Now if by some twist of fate I were to win the lottery I’d attempt to match (perhaps even surpass) that feat. But nothing short of tons of cash and free time will allow me to even come close to your accomplishment.

Seth has already talked about MN. And I think he is casting an eye to the south – KY perhaps?

03/14/2008 at 3:31 pm #1886248Really neat accomplishment!
Bring us along when you do Texas or Alaska.
03/17/2008 at 2:30 pm #1886249Just look what you scamps get up to while people are away 😉 . Yep, Missouri’s in the can. We had a great vacation, and after completing the DeLorme we visited the KC zoo (great Africa exhibit), Pea Ridge battlefield in Arkansas, Shiloh battlefield in Tennessee, Corinth, MS and Mammoth Cave for a tour and a couple earthcaches. So not all caching…
Marie transformed during the vacation from a bump to really showing, but she’s made of iron. We only took the two-hour tour at Mammoth instead of the four and she proclaimed it just right. We’ve got about another month before the “go-bag” needs to be around at all times.
Yes gang, the baby is going to bring a shifting of gears, but look for the baby backpack and the off-road stroller on a trail near you in early summer. Hopefully he can adapt to us just as much as we adapt to him…
As for the gas and time commitment, it’s not as great as you think. We took a three day weekend and completed the northern half, and finished the southern half in five days with some sight-seeing mixed in. The DeLorme is definitely a commitment, but nothing crazy. Gas-wise, I think we put on about 2,000 miles. This fall’s return to the Lewis & Clark trail will be longer.
We need one more trip to complete the requirements for the Illinois DeLorme and then we are going to enjoy a breather. Minnesota is close, but really big, and within minutes of logging Missouri we had an offer from Glen of Rattling Crew to do the Kansas DeLorme. I believe BBQ was promised… We’ve had thoughts on other states as well, but we’re getting closer to being confined to vacations only, at which point you won’t hear so much from us about DeLormes.
Thanks everyone! It’s flattering you even noticed 😀 .
