My memory of those “good old singers” of my day was triggered by the 100 Anniversary of the “Crooners Crooner” the “Vocal Valentino”. RUSS COLUMBO … (1908-1934) … died at the young age of 26. You can google that one up later…. He was part of a group of singers that Cardinal Spellman, in those early years, denounced the crooning style of Columbo, Crosby and Vallee as being sinful… (no kidding). I didn’t mind at least I could remember the words and sing too.

RUSS COLUMBO The Vocal Valentino. Was destined to replace the famous Rudolfo Valentino Movie star.

RUDY VALLEE had his own Orchestra and Radio show and sang the same songs.

BING CROSBY the othe Crooner of the Day.
They all sang the same songs but, all tried to copy the successful style of Columbo. I had some original Records but they are a little scratchy. But, this one has been restored and is of good quality. The LINK is … http://www.pcdon.com/-RussColumbo-GoodnightSweetheart.wav Usually sang as the last song of the Evening. Good time to call your spouse in to hear it too.
There is more to this nostalgic piece… I hope you don’t mind? Your performing artists you remember?
