Anyone know of any good places to do some Trudy Camping in Dodgeville?

Am I the only one who does not know what “Trudy camping” is? 😳

Trudy Camping = Stay at a nearby hotel/motel. Named after an esteemed and long-time WGA member who doesn’t like to sleep in the great outdoors.

Not much of a “Trudy camper” myself, but if you are looking for posh and perhaps a round or two of golf, the House on the Rock Resort down the road in Spring Green seemed nice (met up with my mother-in-law there after our family was camping at Gov Dodge and she was doing her annual “fishing trip” with her sisters). Spring Green is a cool locale for non-caching spouses to hang out and shop.

We found a Best Western near by and the rooms were dwindling fast, when we called yesterday there were no double queens room left.

We are at the House on the Rock Inn. A bit pricey, but they had a handicapped accessible room. 😀

Yesterday we did some cahing in the Southern Kettle Morraine. We stopped at Ottawa Camping Area to buy our annual sticker. We were surprised to see the campground 25% full and mostly with tents. Some of the sites still had a little snow in them. Gave us the urge to get out and camp, but the campout probably will still be the first time this year. When we camped last October it got down into the thirties at night so yesterday really wasn’t much different. So for anyone worried about the weather I guess we’d be wooses not to show up. So cross your fingers for good weather to go with good hides and good friends.
