I would like to request that a link to http://terracaching.com and a link to http://navicache.com be placed on the WGA homepage.
04/06/2008 at 12:08 am #1887444Well, someone should oppose that, so ‘I do’.
04/06/2008 at 12:11 am #1887445Why oppose?

I second the request. We have links to every other geocaching site. It give new members a CHOICE to visit other venues.
OK Marc, here is a subject true and dear to you.
I request that the WGA outlaw Puzzle caches!!!!
(This request is in jest of course but I’m sure you feel just as strong about puzzle caches and Rogheff does the other sites. And yes, I have 1 Terracache placement and 3 Location-less Terracaches.)04/06/2008 at 5:48 am #1887447@rogheff wrote:

Could you define “WGA homepage” Roger? Would this be in the Quick Links block that is always visible on the left hand side of (almost) every WGA page?
We should definitely have links to these other sites in our Web Links module. In fact, I just added them. But I should probably make a new category for them called “alternative geocache listing sites” or something?
Whether a particular web link gets promoted to the “Quick Links” block (listed in the Essential Links category) has always been a Board decision…
04/06/2008 at 11:51 am #1887448Again Jeremy…..YOUR THE MAN!! 8) 8) Thank you!
04/06/2008 at 12:28 pm #1887449I never looked a the WGA site that closely, I was referring to the Quick Links area which currently lists GC.com, The Grand High Poobah WI stats and It’s not about the numbers.

2. The WGA only has authority to do certain things.
3. I really do not care.
4. Well, just because!
5. Stop logging, and go out and cache!

1. That IS your opinion. And I fight tooth and nail for you to express it just as anybody else can. Don’t click on the link if ya don’t want to.
2. And That authority is WHAT???? And Who gave it to them?
3. Well, I do care.
4. DITTO!
5. There are only 2 other Terracahes near me and they are a hour a way.
04/08/2008 at 9:07 am #1887452I do have one major gripe about terracaching.com, its the ridiculous sponsor system. As people might already know when you join you need to get two sponsors by posting in the forums, otherwise you can’t use the site.
The issue I have had is sponsors revoking my sponsorship because I haven’t used the site in months, this has happened about 6 times. I wouldn’t care but that also revokes all the people I have sponsored too.
Maybe I am missing something but that alone is enough to turn me off. At least geocaching.com don’t have this popularity contest just to use the stupid site.
04/08/2008 at 11:28 am #1887453For me, it’s the inane number of virtual caches.

You don’t have to ask to get sponsored. I get requests all the time (through the system). Usually, when I log on to offer sponsorship, they already have 2 or three offers.

They must have changed this, when I first got an account two years ago thats not how it worked. Now I understand why when I logged into the site the other day I got sponsorship emails the very next day without asking.
Either way I still think the sponsorship is a big turnoff and completely pointless.

Same thing happened to me I haven’t visited the site in almost two years and then about two weeks ago I visited and the next day I had about 10 offers of sponsorship….still I don’t like that I need to have sponsors.
04/08/2008 at 10:04 pm #1887457The sponsorship thing is a little weird to get used to, but these two sponsors are also your own personal cache reviewers. Think of it that way.
