I was wondering how many of us geocache while riding a bicycle…if you do I’d also love to know what kind of bike you ride….I have done a few and plan to do several more in the near future. I ride a Trek8000 mtn bike.

You can’t exactly see it, but there’s a GPSr on the handlebar.

The geobike is my main transportation in the summer, and it isn’t uncommon for me to ride at least 30 miles in one day riding to caches. I ride a Trek as well.

I haven’t cached with a bike before, but I hope to sometime.

Got myself a Trek 4900 (or something like that) mountain bike.

Plan on bringing it up to Gov. Dodge for the campout.

We bicycle cached quite a bit last summer. We always brought them along, just in case. We did the trail up in Eau Claire, as well as quite a bit around Rochester and the Cities. We have mountain bikes. Hope to do the trail around River Falls soon.

I rode a bike to a cache once. Does that count? Hmm sounds like a good time tho. Can I get a deal on a Trek?LOL

I love to bike-n-cache, and I’d do it a lot more often if I could get TDSGal on her bike. Then again, maybe it’s the bike. I bet that’s why she’s been eye-ballin’ my Trek from her Next. 😉

Hmmm. She’s got a birthday coming up!

    The Geo-bike at “Border Crossing”.

I plan to a lot more often……seeing as how I just bought a bike for that purpose..:)

Here’s my road bike, a Specialized Allez’, at a cache called Farm Fresh Brown Eggs. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=7382a4b3-35ce-469c-85a4-913344adabd3
I also have a Specialized Rockhopper mountain bike, which is pictured in the photo that Should’ve_Bought_Em_The_Tie posted.

I have some pics of my caching bike in mid action but cant seem to find them…I guess I will have to take some this weekend. Thanks for the responses.

    Well, I haven’t yet, but I think I need to. I have a Trek 830 Mountain Bike.

We enjoy bike-caching. We did all the Omaha Trail Caches, as well as the few along the Sparta Elroy Trail last summer. We still have just a few left on the Chippewa Trail and look forward to doing those. Have done a few on the Root River bike trail in Minnesota and hear there will be many more coming soon, plus we are excited about heading up to the Woodville Trail.

So yes, we enjoy it! Our bikes are hybrids, not quite mountain bikes, but not skinny ones, either. Fuji, can’t remember the model. They have seen a lot of use. I ride the LaCrosse River Trail near home several times a week when the weather gets nice. Sadly, trying to get any number of caches along that trail has been a challenge due to the proximity of the active rail line nearby. There are only a few spots where one pulls away from the other enough to meet the guidelines.

Part of the reason I’m asking this question is to gage interest in bike caching and to then find out what cache rich bike trails exist in the state and perhaps encourage more caches to get developed along the trails…less car more pedal power….lots of finds.

I absolutely love bike-o-caching. I don’t need a geocache every 0.1 miles along a bike trail as an excuse to ride my bike down that trail. For me, one geocache somewhere on the trial (or one on both ends) is good enough.

As a matter of fact, the trail doesn’t even need to have *any* caches for me to enjoy a good bike ride, they are just a cool bonus when they are there.

    P.S. I have a Trek 1000 aluminum (circa 1988) road bike that I haven’t ridden much lately, and a Trek 4000 something-or-other aluminum mountain bike (circa 2006).
