Hi guys,
The website is still set up for April, but I thought I would post a link to the LCG list for May and June so that you can get started. This list shows all the active caches not found since October 12. Note that there are several archived caches on this list, which are from the the Cache Rescue program. Unlike the normal caches on the list, these can only be rescued once and will be removed once someone does the rescue. If two groups happen to try on the same day, I will give you credit, but please don’t push it.
When you look at the list, you will see unusually high numbers in the area south of Wausau, the area surrounding Eagle River (Go Timberline Echoes!), and around Eau Claire. There are also 5 on Rock Island (hint, hint!) and 3 in Governor Dodge State park (Hint, Hint!).
This is the Bookmark List
This is a link to a KML of the caches. For some reason, this KML export is showing the earthcache (yes, there is an earthcache on this list) and the virtuals as traditionals. I will send in a bug report to Groundspeak, but don’t hold your breath.
Here is my traditional Google map, which I happen to like a lot better.
05/02/2008 at 11:57 am #1888562If a person wanted to replace the caches on the cache rescue list, is that a possibility? Or would it have to be listed as a new cache and go through the regular process? Just wondering…..

You cannot adopt caches which have been archived. If you are the original owner of the cache, we can unarchive it for you, but otherwise, you need to create a new cache.
05/06/2008 at 1:46 pm #1888564So here’s my next “dumb Lonely Cache” question. (I ask these as if I really had any chance at this!)
Say there are caches on the list right now that haven’t been found since, oh, May 15 of last year? Say that they get found like May 16 or thereabots? Would they then qualify for double points?
Really doesn’t matter, we’ll be going after them anyway. Had actually hoped to do so last weekend but ran into technical issues—translate–rusted out components for the rooftop rack that needed replacing! But if there’s a chance at double points, we could wait a little longer!
05/06/2008 at 3:21 pm #1888565Nope, only the caches marked as double points on the bookmark list count double. Essentially they needed to be last found on April 30, 2007 or earlier.
05/06/2008 at 8:12 pm #1888566Okie-dokie, that makes our weekend planning much easier now! Guess we’ll remove them from double point contention for the next go around, then! 😈
05/06/2008 at 10:52 pm #1888567Is there a way to do a PQ on a bookmark like that? I ask because I’d like to download to GSAK and be able to sort by distance from home, which GC.dom apparently doesn’t care to allow. I’m not sure why because, after all, it’s a database and databases were meant to have sort tools designed around them….

If you scroll to the bottom of the bookmark page, there’s a button that says “Create Pocket Query”.
