My Magellan Meridian is dying a slow death, probably due to being dropped on pavement, exploding batteries, etc. It still works, but likes to shut down on its own, randomly. If I whack it on a log a few times, i can usually turn it back on, but my trust in this unit is waning.

I last year I was thinking of getting a Garmin 60Csx, but now the Colorado series is tempting me, particularly the 400t. Has anyone used both, and have any thoughts on how they compare? Or does anyone have any better suggestions?

    Thanks in advance!

I have owned a few meridian golds, one of which would randomly shut off. After taking it apart I noticed the battery springs were bent and loosing contact with the main board inside.
I was able to bend the springs back to fix mine, but a more permanent fix would be to solder these contacts with a short piece of wire.
