I’m looking for some advice. I picked up a TB in EauClaire a couple months ago. When I got home to log it, the system did not recognize the tag ID. It said that the bug hadn’t been activated yet. So I tried to lookup the bug by name (which I knew becuase of the laminated label the owner placed on it). I was able to find it by name. It had a mission, a picture, and the whole works. The picture matched what I had in my hand. Yet the tad ID still says it’s unactivated.

My Guess is that the owner had at least 2 unactivated bugs at home, activated one, and setup the bug under that number, then attached the wrong bug to the traveler when deploying. I’ve e-mailed the owner twice with a full description of what’s going one. By “e-mailed” I mean I used the form on geocaching.com. The owner’s name is listed on the laminated label of the bug and matches the owner in the description of the bug I looked up by name. I haven’t heard back from them.

So basically I’m wondering what to do here. I have an unactivated TB in my hand and have no idea what the activation code is. I have an owner that is unresponsive. I’d hate to just throw the thing away and I’d hate to just drop it off in a cache somewhere only to become someone else’s problem.
