On behalf of the Bukosky family and too many others, I feel that it is time to put more bite into the Wisconsin Law regarding Driving after revokation. If you would like to join us visit http://www.petitiononline.com/Bukosky/ and sign the petition. There are now over 29,000 signatures, let’s do our part. ~tb
06/04/2008 at 11:21 am #1889992I signed this some time ago. There was a meeting in Oconomowoc last night about tightening up the Wisconsin Laws…not sure how it went yet though. A few weeks ago I walked past Courtney’s school locker. In her locker there was a poem she wrote; I cried.
06/04/2008 at 11:28 am #1889993I signed it. They need to passed this law.

My brother-in-law was killed in a drunk driving accident 18 years ago. The laws have not changed since then. It’s time they did.
1st strike, could have been a mistake. (BIG fine, and community service)
Second time, you’re a dumb-ass (Mandatory 1 year sentence)
Third time, what were you thinking? (5 year mandatory sentence)
Add 5 years for every mistake after, and counseling, community service and for the full sentence of all offenses. (Paid by the offender)Kill someone while driving drunk (20 years to start) Murder is murder, regardless of the weapon.
06/04/2008 at 2:41 pm #1889995I’d also like to add that my Father was hit by a drunk driver 22 years ago in Pleasant Prairie lass than a mile from home. The woman that hit him was killed instantly. Their combined speed was more than 100mph. My father survived and had injuries at the time that seemed minor. This was the first time my father EVER had his seat belt on in his life. To this day he still can’t explain why he had it on. Now, he never forgets to wear it.
The point I want to make though, is that even though this accident happened 22 years ago, the after affects are still there. My father still has nightmares about the accident, and more importantly, that accident almost killed him about three years ago. Huh?
He went in for a chiropractic exam, and the doc noticed she could see my fathers belly moving to his heartbeat. She sent him to the hospital where they found an aneurysm on his aorta that had calcified to the size of a grapefruit. Thankfully they were able to repair it/ Replace it with an artificial one made of Dacron. The surgeon said that the original injury had to have taken place 15-20 years prior to this discovery, and it had to have been from a major trauma. My father was in ICU for 3 weeks, and is not the same man he was before the surgery. We almost lost him.
The moral is: Drinking and driving can cause lasting effects. Call a friend or a cab. Save a life or two.

get them off the road
06/04/2008 at 10:10 pm #189000129326. As far as I’m concerned, they shouldn’t stop there. Every driving after suspension/revocation needs to be much stiffer. I don’t know the stats, but I’m willing to bet that the majority of those that leave the scene of an accident have had their licenses suspended or revoked.

06/05/2008 at 4:14 am #189000329404 I have drawn Legal Alcohol levels on many DWI/OWI “suspected” people in my 15 years of my profession. Some are really upset that they got picked up, some are beligerent and aggresive and others are just blithering idiots to drunk to keep their heads up or their stomach contents down. (bad experience here). IMHO I would be in favor of prohibition again as EtOH (ethyl alcohol) makes people do stupid things (I know first hand but no longer participate). This petition is a start but still a long way from controling the problem.
1. the car didn’t do anything wrong, it was the idiot choosing to drive it.
2. there is always another car.
3. there are ways to get around the breathalyzer ignition locks though you have to find someone else stupid enough to be sober and let a drunk drive.
4. the list can go on and on.Disclaimer : Always answering to a higher power.
06/05/2008 at 4:18 am #1890004I forgot to mention how many of these people pay lots of money to defense lawyers to get them off from the charges by trying to discredit the officers or other professionals who are doing their jobs using technicallities and loopholes. Don’t worry, they will be back 2,3,4,5 6,7 more times or until they do kill someone. 👿 👿 👿

06/05/2008 at 6:01 am #189000529406…and proud to do it. My father was also killed by a drunk driver back in 1981
