New question, what’s the “norm” for food during this event? Do people pack their own, eat out or what? I see there are some food vendors on site, but a person can only take so much “carny food, ” ya know?
Trekkin’ the diehard trekker was talking about campfire cooking and stuff and I pointed out no one is going to want to take that much time cooking, when there’s caches to be found!
08/04/2008 at 8:50 pm #1894161There are catered dinners, pretty much cafeteria food in the evening. I didn’t register in advance this year thanks to the new arrival, but last year food tickets were available as part of the registration package. I’m sure there will be ticket sales at the registration window.

08/04/2008 at 10:46 pm #1894163My “Tour” is camping Trudy style – well the three guys are. And we will be eating on the road – stopping somewhere during the day to eat.
I was glad not to have signed up for the meals at the fairgrounds last year, since we did not get back into town til after 8 each night.
08/05/2008 at 12:33 am #1894164I liked the meals at the bash in the evening. They were economical, tasty and balanced. The downside is that ya have ta quit cachin earlier, as Marc mentioned. The plus side is that it is a great chance to visit with our geobashers from other states.

08/05/2008 at 1:05 am #1894165Last year my mother, Marc, Da Bloodhound, and Myself cooked out over a fire. It didn’t take all that long, and like Marc said, we did get back to the venue later.
08/05/2008 at 1:36 am #1894166There are no catered meals this year. It’s all carny vendor food. But there are lots of restaurants in town (there was a really good Mexican restaurant — Senor something or other). And a grocery not too far away. Or you can cook at your site.

Opps, my bad. Mexican sounds good, though.
Would El Presidente want a Hot Date with El Vice Presidente and the other assorted Cheeseheads at Bash? Maybe we could arrange to meet at the Mexican place?

BecMmmm… I’ll have an elephant ear, and an egg roll, and a deep-fried Snickers bar, a deep-fried pickle and a scotch egg. 😯
08/05/2008 at 3:57 pm #1894173I usually pack a cooler full of fresh veggies and fruits and other snacks. We are Trudy camping also and will grab the breakfast offered at the hotel. I am rather limited not that I have gone almost 100% Organic, but there is always the grocery store! Nothing at this event that even resembles anything I can eat and even the Leinies is out of the diet for a couple months 😥
08/06/2008 at 12:29 am #1894174What?!!! No Lienies in the diet? Hold the horses missy. That’s like taking the oxygen out of breathing.
