What is the accepted pronunciation of “DeLorme”?

Is it “de-lor-MAY” or de-LORM” or something else?

We’ve always said Duh-LORM. We’ve also heard all sorts of variations.

Guess I’ve never heard it, only seen it on my trusty map book all these years. “da-LOR-um”? To rhyme with “forum”?

And with so many under your belts, Honeybunnies, you day “duh-LORM”.

Gary is right, it is duh-lore-um (silent e).

Which is actually true to the original French pronunciation and spelling:

    de L’Orme

If you want to hear it pronounced, there is an audio clip in this online dictionary entry:

    Que veut-dire “l’orme”? 🙂

Whattya know, searching the googleverse and I get a hit to come back here. Small world and once again WGA answers the questions I have. This is pronounced as I thought. Duh-Lorm not Duh-Lorm-May

Wow, it looks like WA got something right.  Well, he’s right more often than I think.

Wow, I never doubted my pronunciation but now I see that it has been questionable.  LOL

You are all wrong, it is pronounced gar-min. Looking to replace my Delorme PN-60 and found that it has been discontinued by the new owners.

All opinions, comments, and useless drivel I post are mine alone and do not reflect the opinions of the WGA BOD.
