We presently use older Garmins that do not have mapping, and I am wondering if there is Mapping Software that works with GSAK that give me a image of the approximate location of the caches I have selected.
I am using several PQs to help me work on a challenge cache and I am hoping find some way to see if several of the caches populate in simular area so that this isnt such a gas burden
Thanks08/25/2008 at 6:39 pm #1894941If all you need to do is see the caches on a map, you can do this with just GSAK 7 and a few different internet based maping sites.
In GSAK click on the waypoint you want to see on the map so its highlighted, now right click it with your mouse and select Custom URL option in the drop down box(third from top). you can now choose to see your cache waypoint on google maps, topozone, or many more.

Its pretty cool, it will even transfer parking and other child coordiants to Google.

Also, for just one cache, open the “split screen view”, then select Google Maps from the split screen format pulldown. A Google map of each cache will be displayed in the lower window. This is standard functionality and requires no macros.
08/25/2008 at 8:42 pm #1894944USA Photo Maps will open the GPX file. If you’re not familiar with USA Photo maps, it’s a little different. You can download “grids” of high and low res photos and also roads (by county). It’s great software but not immediately intuative, but the help section is great. It’s free too. Also, Easy GPS can sort of map what you’ve loaded, but witout roads, it jsut shows them relative to each other.
But I recommend USA Photo maps, it’s pretty neat. If you do it on a laptop, you can even take the photos with you on the road because they are physically downloaded and are really small (B&W)
