Stay tuned all my caching friends.
A giant extravaganza of fall colors and new caches may be just over the horizon. It appears that Bjornson’s favorite geocaching teacher may be on the verge of announcing just such an event for October 11th. If the school district puts it’s blessing on this one it will be a bunch of new permanent caches including up to four earth caches. Some very creative temporary hides are also in the mix as is a potluck lunch and giant bonfire.
Stay tuned as “official” word is only hours away.09/15/2008 at 5:36 pm #1896014October 11th? I’m open! π

You can fly back that night. π
09/17/2008 at 4:18 am #1896017Event for Bjornson IS A GO.
The cache page awaits approval and publication.
There will be approximately 30 new permanent caches available for the event with 12-15 creative temps.
(Most of the caches you found last year have, or will be archived and replaced with new hides.

We haven’t been up there yet to get the new ones. Just trying to decide if we should wait a little longer, or hurry up and get the new stuff already there before it disappears!
09/17/2008 at 2:11 pm #1896019No, the 30+ include the new ones she has put out recently. I will be hiding some additional permanent ones out there too. DB will be hiding the temps.
I was going to roast up a big ol’ chunk of piggie for this event and start harvesting some apples. Should be a hoot!
09/18/2008 at 3:51 am #1896020This sounds absolutely wonderful! I’m looking forward to my first experience meeting other cachers…and what a great location!
09/21/2008 at 3:01 am #1896021Bjornson fall colors – social event is taking shape.
See gc.com waypoint: GC1GBEP
I hope to see lots of old friends and make some new ones as well. This should be a fun and colorful event.

09/24/2008 at 8:49 pm #1896022I’ve never been to Bjornson and I’m excited that it looks like it will work out for me to come to this event. I was wondering though…. (having taken a look at the topo map) would bringing a moutain bike be a blessing or a waste of time as I try to get from cache to cache?
Could any of you who know the park better than I lend some advice? PS, if the trails are anything like they are at Lowe’s Creek in Eau Claire then they’re bikable to me.
Thanks everybody π

The trails are generally not bikeable, and most of the caches require moderate to siginificant bushwhacking so a bike would not be helpful.

09/25/2008 at 1:39 am #1896024Why did you go and tell him that? It might have been fun to watch.
09/25/2008 at 3:11 am #1896025I do have a Polaris 6 wheel drive ATV that could be rented to the highest bidder. hehe DB π
09/25/2008 at 11:58 am #1896026Just a quick note. Bjornson is located about three (3) miles off I-94. I left a note on the cache page with driving directions from Exit 32 to the entrance to the Learning Center. It’s easy – hope to see ya there. π

Man, you are cruel. π Like I don’t have enough self-imposed handicaps to worry about. π
Thanks, Zuma for the helpful advice.
