It seems to be the time of year where seeds, burrs and the likes are looking to hitchhike to greener pastures. Almost any pair of pants that I own DO NOT collect these items. On the flip side, every shirt or jacket I own DO. Any cachers out there have any luck avoiding these hangers-on with a certain type of material, or other nifty trick, besides avoiding them in the first place. I shirt I recently wore out into the field was so bad that is essentially a belly shirt now. I can barely pull the shirt out flat.

What works for me is to have a bunch of other cachers go in first and follow them. Just stay about ten paces behind them. 😀

I have ruined quite a few shirts/jackets myself from those things. The less fuzz the better. I just try to pay attention as I go. I suppose rain gear would work. That would be so God awful hot though, at least it would be for me, not to mention noisey.

Windbreaker like material… wind pants.. gators on the legs help a bit too.

I like the idea of just letting someone else break trail it does help a bit too.

Good time to talk about this.

Now is the season when all these plants are seeding. These Hitch-hikers also help to spread invasive species plants. So if you’re going to be caching in more than one forest/area in a particular day, try to look over your clothes and remove as many of the seeds that you can before you move on to the next area. Also don’t forget to check your geopets for the same thing. This really helps in taming the spread.

I’m really lucky when it comes to hangers-on. I’ve been known to attract burrs just walking through a parking lot!
