My magellan froze up on vacation and now it won’t do anything. Does anyone have the Reset Code for the Magellan eXplorist 500?? It is a series of buttons you need to push, NOT the reset to defaults.

Never heard about a “reset” button. Oh, that’s right, I use Garmin products. 🙂
My Garmin Legend C now has over 8K finds on it, the screen and body is all dinged up, and I have duct tape holding the rubber band on. Yet, it still works fine. Some days I do wish it would just quit, so I could justify going out and getting an Oregon, but no, it just keeps working.

LOL we just got an Oregon and have been getting familiar with it. We’ve taken it with us but have not totally relied on it for our caching as we are still learing how to navigate the screens. In addition, I have been following threads on GC forums and the OregonWiki. The 6th version of the firmware was released on Wednesday, but prior to that the reset button has been extremly poplular with users. Even with that said, there doesnt seem to be many people wanting to send them back.

Is that so you can wind it up?
On the Left Side of the Road...10/27/2008 at 2:41 pm #1897133Sorry, I looked and looked but I can’t find it. You can try calling Magellan to get. Plan on spending a month or so on the phone though. 😯
10/27/2008 at 4:11 pm #1897134This what I found, hope it helps.
1- Turn off unit.
2- press and hold the bottom right corner of the screen.
3- While still pressing and holding bottom right corner, press and hold power button and continue holding both until a white screen appears with a black dot.
4- follow the on screen directions and your unit will be back to the day you first got it.10/27/2008 at 4:12 pm #1897135This what I found, hope it helps.

Will give it a try. I did get satellites to pick up after leaving it on the dashboard for an hour, but when I shut it off and turned it back on, it never did pick up any after 10 minutes or so. I think it has ISSUES!!
