Hello! I am a newbie from Amery – at this a week, and already thoroughly addicted. Made my first find when I went down the La Crosse to visit my son at school and we tried this out for something to do – usually we cycle, but he had a pulled muscle and I just had surgery on a pulled ligament in my thumb! So, we borrowed a gps, held it out and wandered around until the coordinates got close. And we made a find.
In the week since, I have read a bunch, figured out how to set the points and use the different navigation screens on the gps. I have downloaded MacCache, and have gone paperless (oh yeah, we lost the paper on our first outing and had to backtrack through the woods to find it…) using my ipod (won’t be losing that!) and I have found five more caches. Yippee!! And my dog thinks this new hobby is a great idea 😀
Happy to find this community so I can keep on searchin’ and learnin’…..
Hey,
Welcome to the fun and exciting world of geocaching. I hope ya enjoy it as much as we do. And a special welcome to the WGA. Lots of great caches in the Amery area, so you are in for a treat.

Welcome! It’s good to see another cacher from the NW part of the state!
Welcome to the cult world of gecaching. Seeing as beggars night is approaching, I hope you brought treats for all of us. I like peanut butter cups and dark chocolate. And an ice cold beer.
Welcome to geocaching, and glad ya found the WGA. (You might be rethinking that “discovery” later. 😉 )
