I’m running a bit behind, but I do have the bookmark list available for the November / December contest. You can find it at link. Please do not post reports for November until Jeremy has updated the list. Just save them up until the list is updated.

If you have anymore reports for October, try to get them in by tomorrow night.

    Thanks!

OK, the new list is in the LCG module, so you can feel free to post reports for November. If anyone needs to post for October for a cache not currently in the list, just email me and I will temporarily add it back for you. You will notice the Nov/Dec list is only for caches not found for FIVE months, instead of four. This was done to keep the list under 500 caches. There are a surprisingly large number of caches this time in the southeast part of the state, so this is a prime opportunity for all the Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha and Waukesha County people. Of course, there is the usual concentration around Appleton as well.

Also, I am waiting a couple days more for announcing the winner for October, since it is very close. Hang onto your seats for a photo finish.

Close? You’re not kidding. I thought Labrat might come out and take the lead, but then Seldom comes up with a tie……Oh well, I’ve got no more fight in me for October, so I can’t wait to see what happens.

I have no more fight for October so I will congratulate the winner(s) now.
I had a feeling that it would be down to the wire and seeing that S|S already posted points in November and unless there is someone out in the wings waiting for the last shoe to drop, I would think that October will end in the tie. I had the pleasure of sharing the win with S|S in April.

I would also like to thank all those players who participate in the LCG for the effort they put forth to help ensure the caches out there are fit to be found or have been brought to the attention of the owners. It all makes the game that much more fun if we know that the cache is there somewhere, even if we can’t find it. Keep up the good work and have fun with it.

BTW: will there be a link to the Google map this time around?

Well, I had a little left in me for the month and a nice overnight window on the 31st and 1st in Spring Green after my sister’s Halloween party and I simply couldn’t resist. Of course, me being on hietus and the wife hiding my GPS left me with just the iPhone to cache with. It works well when you have bars, but when you loose phone signal the only thing you can read is your position and not that of the cache. I had a stack of 20 potentials to get and was hoping for at least 10. I only managed 4 finds overnight having DNF’d a few the day before. So I just managed to tie it up for the month and I too was surprised to not see Labrat pull ahead over the weekend which I was anticipating. I guess Pete was winded from walking ankle deep marsh muck….

I am going to host a LCG event in January for all the players of the game to not only re-count all of their lonely cache stories, but also do a little reflection on what we could have and should do differently next year. It will be a Saturday in January and I’d like to know if that works for the major participants in the game before publishing the event. You can PM me and let me know.

Clarify “major participants,” please. Good idea!

This sounds like a fun idea.

I second zuma’s emotion. However, having just gotten into the lcg, does that make me a major minor participant?

First, it will be open to anybody regardless of participation in the LCG or not. I would extend a specific invitation to anybody who participated this year and my point about “major” participants was directed to the top 5-10 players who would have the most to share since we have done the most caches.

In other words, I would make an effort to schedule the event to fit into the schedules of the top tier of players, but obviously I can’t make it work for everyone who played… know what I mean?

Where is that all important map?

    #1897494

I did find that if you go to the cache page for a LCG cache and click on the “View all bookmark lists… ” there is an option to “[Download Google Earth KML]”

it is not quite the same as the other map but with the Google Earth file you get all the features of the Google Earth application.

Guessing this works with any bookmark list too.

If it’s official that the LCG for October ended in a tie, then I would like to congratulate lone_gunman for looking for all those LONEly caches, and seldom|seen for looking for those that are SELDOM SEEN. 😉

The race is on for November now!

Still wondering about the map link
