I’d like to list our TB stats on our school caching profile pages (SetonCachers; SetonCachers2) at gc.com. I’ve got this all typed up in MS-Word, nicely formatted, easy to read, sections of stats seperated by line spaces, indents, etc. But when I copy and paste it, gc.com turns it all into one run-on paragraph that makes no sense.

    I have catagories such as miles travelled (0 – 100; 101 – 1000, 1001 – 2000, etc.), states visited, countries visited, etc.

We have very few Finds to list, and no Hides. This account is primarily for tracking our students’ TB’s.

Any suggestions on how I might format this to post it? Or will I need to create this in something else? It will need to be easy to edit, as I will want to update the stats regularly.

Thanks a lot, Grandpa Jim of the SetonCachers teams

I have the same problem. I listed some milestones and FTF and end up with the lone paragraph. I have tried different things, but it all turns out the same for me. If you figure it out, let me know.

For some reason, the only HTML code I can get to work is and . Page breaks and paragraphs don’t work.

    You can put a
after each line to make it not “run on”. Be sure to check the box that says something about the description containing HTML.
I think the best way to maintain what you want is to create an HTML table. If you don’t have an HTML editor, you can search for an online one like http://www.online-html-editor.de.

It’s kind of hard to say something specifically helpful without knowing what your page layout look like in word and without knowing how comfotable you are with HTML. (since you’re using word I’ll have to assume that you’re not familiar with HTML) I’d be glad to try to help but I’d probably have to have you e-mail me your document. Would you mind doing that?

For everyone… Do we need a tutorial in the forums on HTML? Is that something that would be useful?

Send me the MS word document you created and I might be able to get you the HTML code.

Ok, I’ll write something up. and post it in a new thread.

My understanding of this thread was that G&G wanted to put this write-up in their profile on GC.com, not a GC cache page.

I’ve tried using page breaks and paragraph breaks

in my profile page at GC and it never works.

For a basic guide to HTML, follow this link

If anybody is having trouble with getting the HTML to work on their profile page send it to me the way to want it to be and I’ll get the HTML for you.

I’ve always had good luck with pasting in HTML into my GC.com profile page. Not sure where the person who says that it doesn’t work get’s their information from.

However, I noticed that my profile page is currently not displaying correctly and it is HTML created by the CaceStats program… hmm… wonder what happened. Never had a problem with the html that program created before and using it on my profile page.

The only thing I can think of is I was out there messing around with my profile page on the waymarking site and had to edit my profile to copy and paste the HTML. Perhaps I monkeyed it up 🙂

Oh well, it’s long past due to pull a new set of stats anyway.

Btw, I posted a link in the other new HTML thread that shows you what HTML tags are allowed on the Geocaching.com application and which tags are not allowed. You may find that you have issues with certain tags if you are allowing Micro$oft Word to write your HTML for you…

It looks like the old dog is gonna have to learn some new tricks!

I have a very basic idea of how HTML works on web pages, but did not know it would be needed to do what I want on a Profile. It seems like Word docs may be imported into other areas of gc.com – like TB missions, cache descriptions, etc – so I just figured it would work here also.

Thanks for the tutorials and offers of help. I have a feeling I’ll get this figured out – with some help from my friends!

I will give some of this advice a try when I have a lot of extra time. It looks quite time consuming for this computer illiterate fellow. Thanks to all for the advice.

I’ve gotten one of the school profiles modified with TB stats thanks to zoes brother, who provided technical expertise – thank you very much. I’ll try to do the other account sometime when I have lots of time, too.

Meanwhile, many of you have had your hands on some of our ‘SetonCachers’ school kids TB’s. If you care to see what this years batch of 62 has been doing, check the profile page for the ‘SetonCachers2’ team.
