I hear it through the grapevine (okay a few random posts here on the forums) that changes to the website design are being considered for the future..
I was snooping a bit and noticed that other groups have a few things that might interest our group and would be great potential add-ons if possible:
– Member blogging – great for those posts like Trudy & the Beast did covering their trip on Route 66
– BOD member blogging, “from the president’s desk” so to speak – a chance for the board to share information (we keep hearing from prospective BOD members that the board should be sharing information)
– Being able to link “friends” between members so if you click on a member, their WGA profile would (if the member chooses to) let the viewer know who their “close gecocaching friends” are. Might be handy…
– “About us” and membership information should not be more than one click away from the “home page”. Perhaps in the box center stage that describes who we are should have a nice sentence with a link to becoming a member.
– The box on the homepage talks about what our group does. We should share more news stories right on the home page when our group actually does these things! Look at the last bunch of news announcements there. All geared towards members and nothing to perspective members or to general public viewers.I’m not sure how feasible each of these ideas are but I thought I would share…

Sounds like a lot of good ideas.
We do have a website committee, that like some of our other committees has gone dormant and need of revitilazation. Perhaps you would like to join the website committee and these ideas and others could be looked at by that committee as a kind of focus group. All of our committees are open to members who wish to make a positive change in how we do things.
