The friends of Hartman Creek State Park will be hosting a candlelight ski and hiking event. This year, they will be incorporating Geocaching into the event.
Enjoy an evening hike, snowshoe, or ski along a trail lit by the flickering flames of candles or tiki torches.
Roughly a dozen temporary geocaches will be placed for the event. Half will be accessible by cross country skis, and the others will be accessible to hikers or snowshoers. The Geocaches will be loaded with goodies for the taking. Each Geocache location will share some of the unique history of this beautiful park.
Geocachers should gather at the warming building to get their list of waypoints, socialize, and hang out.
Coordinates to the warming house are:

W89.12.550Hartman Creek State Park has been a favorite park of the WGA. We have held two campouts at the park, and staff has always been very good to us. In the past, the WGA has helped pull garlic mustard in this park, and donated a GPS to the Friends of Hartman Creek State Park.
Hartman Creek State Park is located in Waupaca County. There will be 1.3-mile cross-country ski trail will be lighted by candles, along with another 1 mile of lighted hiking trail. A great way to get rid of the winter doldrums! No trail pass is required for this event.
The Hartman Creek Friends group is also looking for a couple people that could help explain geocaching to newbies, and get them started in the right direction. The person designated to do this, had to cancel at the last minute. If you are able to help, send me and email and I’ll get you connected with the organizer. Your help would be appreciated!
