Just a shout out to Alex for hosting an excellent event in Appleton this past Saturday. What a great turn out and what a lot of fun. It was very nice of you to award geocoins to the top 10 finishers of the event. What a nice gesture. So this is my public thank you.

Thanks for the geocoin, thanks for the great event, and thanks a million for being such a strong supporter of the Lonely Cache Game. I really believe that the LCG is one of the most important things we are doing as an association, as it directly affects the quality of the caching experience for everyone by keeping caches active and if not there, archived.

The only thing I didnt get to do as much as I wanted to at the event was chat with Alex and Dave, the LCG kings.

We will second zuma’s words. It was a great event, Alex, with door prizes, too, for those of us waaayyyy down on the LCG list, and for anyone else who came. And all the trackables in attendance!!!

And I agree–more time to talk!!! So many people, so little time. And we never did get to hear those “Lonely” caching stories, but they are epics that will be told many a time at many an event and around many a campfire, so there will be time. We’re looking forward to getting to more events like this great one.

This was absolutly the BEST event we’ve been to so far this year!
Seriously, you did a great job with the event Alex. Great location and a great turn-out. There wasn’t enough time to chat with everyone I had wanted to.
That was a huge collection of travel bugs! We took a couple, but I hope you didn’t get stuck with too many. And thanks again for the replacement. That was way above and beyond.
Thanks for hosting a great event!

A job well done! I probably would have socialized more but my son really wanted to bowl so we ended up bowling 3 games. It was definitely a fun location. Great food too as I am sure some got to experience. The turnout was definitely a “who’s who” of geocaching in WI from what I could see.

Onto another great year of the LCG.

I also had a great time at this event. Now to get all those trackables logged?

      #1900690

      Definitely a great event!

Ya, what they said! All the “seeds” enjoyed bowling together and one of them even got an honest strike! I think they would have done a bit better had I remembered to ask for the bumpers to be raised before the 10th frame… 😳

Thanks to all of you for making the trek despite the iffy weather. The turnout was overwhelming and bodes well for the LCG and the continued involvement of Wisconsin’s gregarious cachers.

I am only remiss that the location and the crowd didn’t facilitate a little group reflection time on the most memorable moments for the 2008 LCG. But we’ve filled that void already with a new thread thanks to JimandLinda.

I was utterly surprised to see so many trackables logged into the cache just prior to the weekend. The last time I had looked at the page there were a couple dozen and suddenly there were more than 80! That mushroomed into a total of 166 trackables at the event, a huge number considering this gathering was not billed as a geocoin related swap meet.

It was great to see so many faces and talk to many of you whom I’ve never had the pleasure of meeting before. I am sure that this will become an annual event and will be as successful every year hence. The middle of winter has us all feeling a little coup’d up and ready to get out for a little camaraderie. What better way to shrug off the cold than to bowl a couple frames and log a few trackables?

This was the 19th event that we’ve attended and one of the best. We always ask when it’s over would we attend agin and the answer is yes. What was unique about this event is that it grew out of the quest to find a cache and became a gathering that was not about finding caches as many events are. Instead it was a meeting of WGA members who truly enjoy what they do and want to share their experiences. I heard many ideas here that would srengthen the organization. Thanks to Alex for the opportunity to meet all of the new great people in attendance and see old friends too. This was a truly inspiring event that couldn’t have come at a better time after the previous week’s weather. The Fox Valley area is now on our must visit again list.

We also had a great time at this great event. Our nephew was home from college and decided to tag along and enjoyed seeing what it’s all about, too. Like others, there were many more folks there than time to visit, and we appreciate Jim and Linda taking up the story cause in the forums.

A HUGE thanks to Alex for organizing this, and sharing so freely for prizes. Next event you see me, I’ll be trackable! 😉

Hopefully this will be an annual event. It’s always great to see everyone in the dead of winter. Nice job Alex. Tami
