Still considering myself to be somewhat of a noob to this obsession we call caching, I haven’t ventured too far from my home coords to get out in the field, unless you include my travel bug drop at the now archived “Oakdale Mini Park” last summer.
Looking ahead to the upcoming summer, I’ve decided to take an informal poll to see which areas of the state are your favorite to cache in. Granted, this poll will need to be populated by those of you who actually have cached around different parts of the state on a fairly regular basis.
When you vote, please list some reasons why that particular area of the stateis your favorite. When dividing up the state into quarters, let’s consider I-39/HWY 51 to be the east/west dividing line, and an imaginary line from Sheboygan to Eau Claire to be the north/south divider.
Alright…head to the polls!!!

Barry and Valarie of sweetlife

If you want a uphill/downhill workout, SW.
If you want to cache and relax, NW.
NE is on the todo list!
That’s the nice thing about this state… a variety of cache experiences!

01/25/2009 at 12:53 am #1900972I rather like the central part of the state…
01/25/2009 at 1:04 am #1900973For raw natural beauty I voted for the northwest, especially the closer you get to Lake Superior. As far as favorite caching grounds though, I have a very specific triangular area in the southwest encompassing Baraboo, Devil’s Lake, the Dells and continuing out toward Wildcat Mountain, the KVR, Spring Green and Mount Horeb. Too many magic spots in there to name drop.

KVR??? What is it and where is it??
01/25/2009 at 1:57 am #1900978I am not sure where to vote on this poll, so I will just state the areas that I like that I have cached in. Door County and The Dells/Devils lake area for scenic beauty. Yes there are other great places in the state I just havent Cached in them yet so I cannot reference them yet.

Agreed, but this year we plan on hitting all corners and middle parts of the state. I hope, but I have to convince the misses that we need to finish off the DeLorme challenge.
01/25/2009 at 3:37 am #1900981We have cached in all parts of the state, and love it all. Most of our caches have been in SE Wis, because that is were we live. We don’t miss opportunities to get to the other quarters whenever we can.
