So I revisited 3 lonely caches today (Giz’s Dirty Double Crosser series in Kaukauna, WI) and I could not find any of them.

Do I get points if I revisit and do not find them? The rules mention “You find a cache that you have found before and confirm its location and condition in a note on the cache page.”

Rule 12d clarification does ellude to not finding on a revisit:
“A cache cannot be confirmed (either way) after a find, a confirmation note, an enable note, or an owner maintenance visit log is posted during the 2 month period, unless there is a subsequent DNF. If the last log on a cache is an confirmation note, it cannot be confirmed again, regardless of how long ago it was found.”

Just wondering if I get points for these or just the much needed exercise?

I guess the LCG admin would arbitrate this, but it certainly seems like you should get points for it. The purpose of the game is to check up on lonely caches so if they’re not where you know they were it’s valuable info. Probably more valuable than a “regular” DNF since you’ve actually been there before.

But…how to score? Is it a “Revisited and checked a lonely cache I’ve already found” or “Attempted to find a lonely cache but was unsuccessful.” We’re talkin’ a point difference here!

Looks like rule 5c (the dnf rule) applies the most now that I reread them all.

    thanks gotta run!

I would think that rule 12c would apply here more so than the DNF rule.

    c. A cache can only be confirmed present or confirmed missing once during the two month list period, unless there is a subsequent DNF.

You may confirm a cache missing if you have previously found it and know without a doubt that it is not where is was placed.
Now with snow cover still on the ground, If the cache was dislodged and is now buried in snow, it may be difficult to confirm it actually missing, but if an effort was made to recover it if that be the case. I would think that you could confirm it missing. Again, it is a point here or there. I don’t know if anyone would get too uptight about it. (just my opinion, I could be wrong)
