I looked at the snow depth map but I know that even when it says 2″, in the woods it can be more.
If anyone near the Coon Forks area outside Eau Claire can tell me about the snow conditions (and if those caches are mostly findable if there’s snow), I’d be forever grateful. We had a last minute change to our weekend plans and want somewhere not too far to go for the day.
Otherwise it will probably be back to Rochester MN again.
Thanks!
Well, this might be too late now, but just fyi. I looked at doing these in January and contacted the cache owner beforehand. He suggested waiting till spring since many of the caches may have been under snow (and it sounds like there may have been some logging in the area too).
Let me know if ya go – it looks like a great area to hike and explore!! I hope to get out there before the mosquito’s come out. 😉
We want to get out there before the bugs are all over, too. We’ll keep in touch! Thanks for the info.
