Appleton must see and do caches ……….
04/09/2009 at 12:58 am #1903704The FujnkyFinderz4 have set up a series of six caches called Mission Impossible (almost, nearly, not really) in Menominee and Marinette that are really creative and fun to do. So far they’ve activated 5 of the 6 starting with GC1MFF8.

05/29/2009 at 2:06 am #1903705The final for the FunkyFinderz4 Mission Impossible series is out and it’s a doozy! I’m still working on it but this is a great series…I haven’t had this much fun since I started geocaching[:D]
Here’s all of them:
Mission (almost, nearly, not really) Impossible L1 (GC1MFF8)
Mission (almost, nearly, not really) Impossible L2 (GC1MGYF)
Mission (almost, nearly, not really) Impossible L3 (GC1NPVW)
Mission (almost, nearly, not really) Impossible L4 (GC1NZJ5)
Mission (almost, nearly, not really) Impossible L5 (GC1P2RR)
Mission (almost, nearly, not really) Impossible L6 (GC1PFMD)
Mission (blah, blah, blah) Impossible- FINAL!!! (GC1RQ7YOconto...the birthplace of western civilization:)
07/05/2009 at 4:20 pm #1903706I agree. That series was a lot of fun and I’m proud to say that it’s in my home area.
Well worth checking out.
08/25/2009 at 9:51 pm #1903707A really terrific and challenging series of caches is Merlin’s Major Feat (GC1BCW8) by Lander and Lancelot in/around the Bonduel area. Cachers have to find clues in five different caches and on a travel bug in order to find and log the final. The caches range in difficulty from 1 to 4. If you have a sense of adventure and enjoy a good challenge, I recommend you give this one a try π

09/19/2010 at 3:21 pm #1903708An excellent set of caches that get little attention are Long Tail Point Lighthouses 1859 & 1848 GCXHN8 and Long Tail Point Lighthouse 1899 GCXHNH on the west shore of Green Bay…I think mainly because they require a boat to get to and the water is shallow around the Point. But they are very accessible in the summer. In the winter, they’ll be buried by the snow blowing in off the Bay.
And if you get out in your boat for the lighthouse caches, try GC1YTW8 The Lights of the Cat Island Chain too. There is a good, albeit rocky landing area on the north shore

Looking forward to the addition! Am I anticipating a “Horse of a Different Color”? I agree, this is one of the most enjoyable series I have ever done. Bring a bike, otherwise you’re in for a lot of walking. It’s possible but a long trek. It took my wife and I about seven hours of walking and searching time.

Hey, Tom! It looks like you got your wish π

06/25/2012 at 1:07 pm #1903713There’s a new series put out by Gotta Run on the Mountain Bay Trail between Pulaski and Bonduel that’s a lot of fun. It follows the Lord of the Rings trilogy theme. The LOTC series has a great variety of easy to moderate caches…very family friendly…bring your bike. :bartrod:

04/29/2013 at 12:36 am #1903714The great and powerful wizard spent this glorious weekend doing spring maintenance along the Yellow Brick Road. I enjoyed the frog chorus along one stretch, flushed a huge tom turkey in another, and heard the distant drumming of grouse on several occasions. It appears that in the next week or so, there will be a profusion of wildflowers. And best of all, there were no bugs! All 35 caches are ready for the season π
05/17/2014 at 12:54 am #1903715I rode my bicycle down the Yellow Brick Road today to complete my spring maintenance. Most weathered the winter well but there were a few exceptions. All look good for the season now. The recent rains have left quite a bit of standing water in the area near the Highway 22 entrance but I didn’t get my feet wet checking any of my caches. I can see where this might be mosquito breeding heaven at some point but I didn’t see a single mosquito in the last week nor find any ticks. The wildflowers are in full bloom right now…I love spring π
09/22/2014 at 11:47 pm #1903716I ventured down my magical road again today for fall maintenance. Although many areas to the north and west are starting to flash their autumn colors, the Yellow Brick Road is a week or two away from that yet. But the wonderful aromas of the season are in the air π
