The 2009 page for this event is taking shape and it looks like they will again be having a Geocaching aspect….I’m just sayin’

    …While I did attend last year I don’t recall having any chocolate…

I’m still upset about last year….Our team was flying along and should have blown everyone else away. We passed up two teams before running into problems with the last cache. We could have spent 35 minutes on the last one and still cruised to victory, but the hour plus we spent spelled our doom. All of that running (and I’m not known as a runner) was for naught, but the humble pie was sure tasty.

However, I did enjoy some chocolate and my daughter won some cool prizes in the float building competition. Even though I was not part of the winning geocaching team, much fun was had by the entire family.

    Thanks for the reminder Gary.

I wouldn’t miss it for the world, and I’ve been training all winter so we can defend our title. Team ZigZagNuts will be faster than ever… we’ll be so speedy that we’ll just be a blur as we cross the finish line way ahead of our competition… if you blink, you’ll miss us as we collect our giant chocolate medallion grand prize.

Seriously, it would be great to see some other WGA teams/members come out for this. Last year there were several teams from south of the border (IL), including one that took second (or was it third?) place. That just ain’t right! 🙂

I along with The Schmidt House Crew would love to do this but we are heading to Nashville that weekend.

I didn’t even know about this. Could someone please explain? I haven’t gone to Chocolate Fest since I was a kid… but this geocaching thing may bring me back.. if only I had some information on it… hmmm?

It sounds like tons of fun, but didn’t they limit it to ten teams last year?

There was a limit of ten but I think there actually 11 anyway.

The geocaching portion is a timed race to find all the caches and get back to the designated location. There are staggered start times.

Ugh, that isn’t particularly good news. I think there is an organized bike ride in the area on the same day. Be careful out there, folks.

    Bicycle or Motorcycle?

Hurray, I was wrong. The bike ride is on Sunday. There is a foot race on Saturday morning, however.
