Since I now have another Windows based desktop, I can use GSAK again (yay!). But now I don’t remember what I have to do to export to cachemate.

    FILE
    EXPORT
    CACHEMATE PDB FILE
I can generate something, and then I get:

No desktop users exist. Create a new user through Palm Desktop and then start Quick Install again.”

I can’t create a new user and no users are listed on the Palm desktop.

I can run a hotsync — apparently my username for the Palm is Becky Waldmann. Do I need to make some sort of change somewhere that I am not noticing?

    Thanks in advance,
    Bec

Looks like I figured it out — sometimes you just gotta re-install the software…

Well, it’s not a perfect system yet….but I’m too annoyed to figure it out at the moment.

I got my Home file sent to cachemate, but my Mission file won’t go because that file already exists (ummmm….no…)

Anyway. If someone understands and can help — it will be gladly accepted.

That’s what I was going to suggest. Glad you figured it out.

    Bec,

Assuming you want BOTH files to be in the Palm at the same time, you have two options.

    1. When you export the second file, change the name. I usually change waypoints.pdb to waypoints1.pdb. (Yes, it really is that simple.)

    2. If you don’t want to change the name for some reason (a broken keyboard, let’s say), just export the first, then sync the palm, then export the second with the same name, then sync the palm again. The files will be combined in Cachemate, but that should be what you are looking for with Palm Cachemate. (Pocket PC Cachemate is different.)

Or you can just call me and I will talk you through it.

I did option 2 (as I always do) and it didn’t work. I’ll try option 1.

I think for this to work, she’d have to sync it (with Home caches), open Cachemate on the Palm to get those caches imported, then sync it with the other set of caches (Mission caches), then open up CacheMate and import those caches. Just synching twice without an import wouldn’t work.

In any case, renaming the file and doing one sync is a much better option. 🙂 You can also control which of the PDB files get imported first (useful if you are dumping caches into different categories and there is overlap) by using the skip button on the import window.
