I have someone contacting me for help via email and I wanted to see if I could provide helpful information. Here is the message I received today:
Is there any seminars, instruction on geocaching areas for kids in Appleton/Fox Cities?
I tried to work through Bubultz Park and got no where.
Anybody know of any offerings like this around the Appleton area? I thought there was something out there but I can’t remember what. Is it basically only the events we geocachers put on like Marc’s events? or is there some other offering at one of the area nature centers or tech schools or universities?
I checked with GizFinder and Marc already and haven’t come across anything to provide in response to this.

I got my introduction to geocaching at the YMCA of the Fox Cities. They have a class offered periodically. I believe it is even called Intro to Geocaching. Shane Vondracek, the naturalist there, geocaches (or did a few years ago) and also teaches the class. Anyone of any age could take it. There were only two of us in my class, but I think they would prefer to have 6 in order to run it. I took it in the summer. They don’t have their summer program book yet, and it is not a class offered this spring. Shane’s direct number is 920-954-7643. His e-mail is [email protected] I don’t know his geocaching handle. There is a fee for the class, but I don’t remember the cost. I think he would consider a private class for a group, but there would be a cost for that too. Hope this helps.

It is being offered twice this summer, both are Saturdays.
June 20 4-6:30 p.m.
Aug. 15 1-3:30 p.m.Class is for 14 years and older. Under 14 ok with an adult.
Cost is Y member $4, General public $6, additional family members $2 a person.
