New this year, we will be having our night caching on Friday night. This will be a contest (with presented prizes!) for the top night hides.

For those who haven’t done night caching before, this involves seeking a cache in the dark with some sort of assistance (lights, sounds, ???) In the past we’ve had some great night caches and its always been a highlight of the campout!

If you are interested in participating, just let me know. You don’t have to have a fully formed idea until later.

I will post more details as they become solidified. Feel free to ask any questions.

I have a thingy as described in an email.

    Forgot to ask:
    How are locations handled?

    What about names and descriptions?

Bec, did you ever get our message about hiding one?

For night cache hiders and seekers:

We’ll be using the Forest Management Trail. It extends north from the furthest parking lot near the Pavillion and meets with the Red Bird Trail North of the Pavillion along the Bluffs.

Those hiding night caches should report to me when you have arrived and are ready to hide your night cache to get your lighted number.

You can find your hiding spots along the Forest Management Trail. If you are going to be arriving really late, please let me know ASAP. We have a few spots marked we can give you in advance.

Report back at the shelter by about 6:30 PM with the final details of your cache:
    -Name of cache
    -Exact Co-ordinates of cache
    -Number of cache (lighted number)
    -Special Instructions
This will give us enough time to put together a “.GPX” file for download later that evening.

The lighted numbers have a clip on them so that special instructions can be attached to the lighted number. Paper and markers will be available when you pick up your number.

At about 7:30PM we will begin doing downloads of coordinates for the night caches. Along with your coordinates, you will receive a ballot for night cache voting.

Then we wait for dusk (around 8:30PM) and night caching begins! Have a great time! While you are enjoying the night caches, pick out your favorite of the night. Indicate your preference on the ballot and be sure to bring it back to the night caching download area (there will be a fancy box). At the end of the night the votes will be tallied. The winners will be announced during our meeting on Saturday.

If time allows (quiet time begins at 11:00PM and all non-campers must be out of the park by this time as well), night cache placers can pick up their caches. Or you can wait until Saturday morning.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
