A Seedy Event
This is very early but I am organizing a service event for late September or early October. Background
The University of Wisconsin Waukesha has a field station 10 miles west of the campus. This was a farm donated to the school in the 70’s that is being returned to its natural state. It is a beautiful 100+ acres that is crossed by the Ice Age National Scenic Trail , the Glacial Drumlin State Trail, Scuppernong Creek, has lake frontage and 8 different natural communities. The station has been maintained for almost 40 years by a single coordinator who lives on the site. He needs volunteers for prairie burns, brush removal and seed collection.
I did not see (ummmm, do not want to see) cachers with axes or blow torches so I suggested that I put the call out for seed pickers.
The event
I see an event where volunteers (that’s you) would arrive, help with the picking and as thanks be provided with the fixings for an Autumn picnic. More details as the time grows closer.I would not see any caching except for the event itself.
I would like to do this in the name of the WGA so any endorsement or other support from that august body would be welcome.
So…
Keep weekends in September and October open 😉 …. and watch this space for details as they become firmed up over the summer. I will get the cache page posted as soon as it is legal to do so (sooner if the reviewers are in need of something).Jeff Thorson
