In 2006 we sent a TB “Aunt Amber” in honor of a young lady who is handicapped to CA to visit her uncle. It made it from WI promptly to CA and then disappeared nearly 2 years ago, just one hour from it’s destination. We contacted the last people who had it in their possesion but never got any replies. Last week we recieved an e-mail from a person who found a cache that had 35 TBs stashed away in it. One was Aunt Amber. Our honoree Amber is very excited as are all the relatives. The people who now have it in their hands are making arrangements to get it to the non-caching uncle. Maybe we will get him to become a cacher.

05/01/2009 at 12:55 am #1906948That is cool! Kind of like when a mailbag goes missing and letters get delivered years later. Hope the rest of those 35 TBs got moving again.

This happened to me before, took me a bit but here’s a link to the thread I started back then.
http://wi-geocaching.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=7898While Searching for my old topic I noticed Lostby7 had the same thing happen a few months later.
http://wi-geocaching.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=8131&highlight=missing+tb05/01/2009 at 11:55 am #1906950I’m glad to hear that it’s back on track.
I guess there is still hope for one a placed in a cache two years ago. It wasn’t mine, but I moved one from Antigo to Menomonee Falls and then it disappeared. I still feel bad about it. The next finder went to the cache for the coin and it wasn’t there. And they were the first finder after the coin drop. I went back twice to look around for it before thinking that it was stolen.
05/01/2009 at 5:53 pm #1906951We sent a few with a WI geocacher who was going to start them out in Thailand a couple of years ago. They have never been logged 🙁
05/01/2009 at 8:36 pm #1906952On the same topic, but different TB, within the last month we’ve found two TBs, one that was missing for 2 years and one that was missing for 1 year.
So it gives us hope that some of our long-lost TBs will someday reappear!!!
On the Left Side of the Road...05/02/2009 at 3:36 am #1906953Hmmm.. Must be a good month for lost travelbugs. I just found one that has been missing since 12/23/07.
05/02/2009 at 4:11 am #1906954Same here – One I found in the Plover are was missing for a year. I brought it with me to the KB 2000 event in MN. It was picked up and on the move again! Nice to see them back in action.
Now if only the person that picked up my ‘just released’ TB at the KB 2000 event would log it was retrieved. I am starting to get nervous that my first TB was taken and never to be seen again at it’s debut cache/event!
05/02/2009 at 9:11 pm #1906955Maybe they have been in some type of hibernation.
