The local paper covered the story too:

I was proud to have been a part of this event! The most unique piece of trash I found was a high heel shoe. That was nothing compare to the almost perfect Hmong doll that someone found and a fully operational mountain bike.

Ha! I just noticed that my son (Lil’ Van Man) and I are also in the background along with Team Black Cat!

Great coverage for a great event! Was watching Channel 7 news to see if there was any coverage, but must have missed this segment. Thanks for posting the link here. Sounds like you guys all “done good”!

I am not convinced that the Appleton press wants positive stories about geocachers/geocaching.

Attaboy LB! Looks like another one in the plus column. Wanted to come up after work, but went to the doctor instead. The usual, “It’s viral, we can’t do anything, go home and die” πŸ˜‰ .

Keep up the good work. All the information I got in the updates was impressive and it looks like an unmitigated success.

Hi folks, thanks for all the kind responses. I’ve been away from the forums since the event… went on vacation, had other things going on…. etc etc. but thank you. In response to Fu’s question, the Wausau Daily Heard had an article published ON THE FRONT PAGE in Sunday May 3rd issue. It was sort of in the corner at the bottom but it was there πŸ˜‰ The link on Van’s Clan’s post is the same article. And thanks, Dale for the photo. I’ll have to get that on Facebook πŸ™‚

It was a pleasure to do the organizing and the turnout was very encouraging and the amount of work done was encouraging as well. I’m glad we got to get the name of the WGA out there a little bit more and give caching a good name as well πŸ™‚
