For those of you who might be interested, I believe that this Thursday is the deadline to get onto the Do Not Call list. Once on, your good for two years. The number is 1-866-9NO-CALL.

Or, if you like, you can do this online by going here… https://nocall.wisconsin.gov/web/home.asp

The date you sign up determines the date when telemarketing calls should decrease. If you sign up by June 1 (next Monday) you should be on the list on July 1.

You can add your mobile phone number(s) to this list now also.

Don’t forget while you’re at it to also put your name on the national do not call list. Go to http://www.donotcall.gov for this one.

Earlier today I heard that the deadline is the upcoming Sunday, not Thursday.

Just did some checking and when you register on the national do not call list this is what I discovered from the http://www.donotcall.gov website:

Telephone numbers placed on the National Do Not Call Registry will remain on it permanently due to the Do-Not-Call Improvement Act of 2007, which became law in February 2008.

Wisconsin Do Not Call List: The following info came from the website https://nocall.wisconsin.gov/web/home.asp

Your number will remain on the List for two years. Adding your phone number to the List will help reduce (but not eliminate) telemarketing calls. Effective June 6, 2008, Wisconsin residents can add their mobile telephone numbers to the List.

How does a consumer sign up?
Consumers can sign up 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year:

    * By visiting the Wisconsin No Call List website

    * By calling 1-866-9NO-CALL (1-866-966-2255) toll-free in Wisconsin

The date you sign up determines the date when telemarketing calls should decrease:

If you sign up before: You will be on the List on:
    December 1st January 1st
    March 1st April 1st
    June 1st July 1st
    September 1st October 1st

The updated No Call List is given to registered telemarketers quarterly. Therefore, it may take 30 to 120 days for your number to get to telemarketers.
