For some reason, (operator error) when I export my GSAK data base file into my MapSource file, the icons that are sent to the mapping software do not correspond to the GSAK.

As an example, the EarthCache symbol, Virutal (ghost), Mulit-Cache,
Mystery (?), WebCam are not going into the MapSource correctly.

I have something going on and I can not find the correct GPS (corresponding) icon for the appropriate cache types to straighten this mess out.

    I have tried in GSAK:
“Use same icons as GPS send.”
Done the “CHANGE” but there are no corresponding symbols
to select from ie the Earth icon for EarthCache. No Question Mark for Mystery cache. Nada.
Also, “Overide w/database symbols….” produces the same icon for everything thing- a Regular cache symbol.

And “USE MACRO” has not yield the desired results.

Thanks in advance for any and all help on this issue.

Well, the short answer is that you really can’t do it without using a macro, but you can come close.

    The non-macro version
    File|Export|Mapsource
Click the big change button on the dialog box.
Choose the radio button for “cache type”
For each cache type, pick the icon that you want. There is an icon for “geocache” and multicache. You can use the information icon for mysteries, if you don’t already use it for something else, everything else is up to you. Just pick the choices that make sense. There are no icons for ghosts, cameras, globes, etc.
Now hit save and do the export.

    The macro solution
There is also a set of custom icons and a macro for exporting caches with those icons to the more modern Garmin units (60C(s)x, 76C(s)x, Colorado, Oregon). (That is what the “use macro to select icons” checkbox is all about.) Here is a link to get you started. I never personally thought this was worth my time to set up, so if you want to do it, you might have to contact the page owner for more support.

    Excellent, thanks.
That answers my question(s) and then some.
No wonder I was getting frustrated.

    Thanks!
