they did a fitness story on Geocaching today.
Caught that segment, but didn’t think it was very good. Have to looking for that cache that has the pink bandana tied around the tree. Dang! We were just in Madison yesterday, too.
Here is the link for it

We watched the video and…Wait a minute…who finds geocaches with only a compass? And then to show a tomtom as a gpsr to use while geocaching, ouch. We did that for a year and struggled. Don’t recommend doing that. Oh, and it hasn’t taught our kids how to follow directions. It’s taught them to blame the gpsr if we can’t find the cache. It’s taught them what a muggle is. And it’s taught them to include our home coords in their letters to Santa.
I followed their advice today and bought a cheap compass. The only thing is I can’t figure out where to put in the coordinates?
I saw the vid.
Unrealistic.
Looks like it was staged. The reporter probably knew where it was already as she just walked up right to it.
I’d like to see a REAL news vid where a reporter is actually looking for the cache with a REAL GPSr. Or at least, follow an actual cacher.
Unless she’s got letterboxing confused with geocaching.
